Camping

For the 24th we decided that we were gonna go camping, my sister was up at Fairview Lakes and we were originally just going to go up for the day and ride 4wheelers and go fishing but once we got up there we had so much fun that we decided to try to stay the night. We stayed up and talked my the fire and made smores, Colby was helping Braxton and Dawson and it was so cute. He is so good at making smores, he is patient. I suck at it and always burn the mallow or start it on fire but O well!

After a while we decided to hit the hay and attempt to sleep. Since we didn't plan on sleeping there we had gone to the dollar store earlier and bought some pillows and blankets to sleep in the back of our car! I know, we are crazy but it wouldn't have been that bad but we were smooshed so close together that I was so afraid that we were going to suffocate Kade in the middle of the night so I didn't sleep really but all in all it was a great little trip!

George Strait

On the 17th Kade got to go to his first concert! We went to George Strait with Colbys mom and Steve and Andy and Brandy! We had so much! I have always wanted to see him and now I can check it off my bucket list:) Kade was so good too! He didn't even cry at all! The only downfall of the night was that we paid $20 for a burger and a chicken sandwich and they were dry, discusting and cold! What a rip off!

Bad Bad Blogger:(

So I have not been very good at blogging our life since Kade, but I am gonna try to be better! The 4th of July was ok for us. We didn't really lite fireworks and for the first time since I can remember I didn't have sparklers.. .they are my favorite but fireworks and a newborn really don't mix!! But we did have a BBQ at Colby's moms and then we watched our own fireworks. And that was pretty much it:)
Fathers Day was good too, Colby got to celebrate his first Fathers Day as a dad and I hope he had a good one! He is a great dad and husband and I love to watch him with Kade! Its better than I ever could have imagined! We made the rounds to see all the great dads in our lifes and then we just chilled!
Other than those holidays we have just been being parents and loving it! It is so exhausting at times but I can't imagine life without Kade now! He is so cute and he just makes us want to be better people.... We love him!

Kade's 1st Photo Shoot!

So of course I had to get Kade's pictures taken already:) I think that he was 5 days old when my sister talked me into going down to get them taken. I was a little nervous about it, but Ashlie did a great job! She was so good and knew just what to do; it was amazing, no matter what position that she put him in he would just fall asleep. Towards the end we were trying to get some of the naked poses and all of a sudden he just pooped all over and then peed straight in the air!! ha ha it was a photo shoot to remember ha ha:) But I may be biased but I think that they turned out soo cute!! I mean could he be any sweeter?!!
Thanks again Ash, your the best Auntie!!

Don't Mess with Texas!!

Derek finally recieved his mission call has been called to serve in the Texas, Houston South mission. Spanish speaking. He opened his call on Thursday May 28th. We all went over to my parents house and he opened it up around 7:00. My mom went all out and had food from all the other countries and states made for everyone and we had a little buffet and opened his call. He had a bunch of family and friends there to support him. He was so cute when he opened and read it he just cried through the whole thing:) We just love Derek and I know that he is gonna be such a great missionary. He leaves to go into the MTC on Sept. 2nd. I am glad that he is gonna be here a little while longer and that Kade can spend some time with his Uncle Derek before he leaves for 2 years. Congrats Derek! We love ya tons

Kade has arrived!

Kade Colby Christensen
5/31/2009
7lbs and 10 oz
19 inches long

Sunday night I started getting contractions about 12:00am.... I thought for sure that I was just crying wolf again so I just kept getting up walking around and going back to sleep. That didn't last to long they got closer and closer together and I finally decided that this had to be it!! I woke Colby up around 4am and told him that it was time... he was so tired that it didn't really register what I was saying. "Time for what?" He asked:) I was like, " uh...time to have a baby!" I guess he really didn't believe me either cause he rolled over and asked me if I was sure!!! Ha ha I was completely sure by then! He started to get excited when he found out that I was serious. I started to get everything together as fast as I could.. Of course Colby had to shower : ) and I was freaking out telling him to hurry. After he finally got out he was asking me what he should wear to meet his son?! By this time I was dying with contractions and could have cared less what he wore to the hospital, but it was cute that he thought about it :)
When we finally arrived to the hospital they didn't have a room ready and then they didn't have a monitor in the room, everything was taking so freakin long. After they checked me they said that I was only at a 3 so they were going to monitor me. I was like, " no freakin way?! all I could think about was getting that epidural! and they didn't even know if they were going to admit me yet! I started to get so sick and ended up barfing in someone elses cup of water that was left in the room! ha ha it was so disgusting. After about a half an hr I told Colby to get the nurse so that she could check me and actually admit me into the hospital... I was in so much pain that I just knew that things had to be moving pretty fast. The nurse checked me and sure enough I had dilated to a 5 1/2. After that I was begging for the epidural and she told me that it was going to be another 1/2hr or so before I could have it. She said that the only Dr that could do it was in the room with someone else... Then some lady started screaming bloody murder and the nurse turned to me and said, "That lady is getting her epidural right now." me and Colby looked at each other and I could have died! If anyone knows how scared I am of needles they know that this is the last thing that I needed to hear. But honestly the pain was so bad I could have cared less. To make this long story a little shorter, I finally got the epidural which wasn't that bad at all. After that I thought things were gonna be cake... I got up to an 8 1/2 or so and wasn't feeling a thing. They finally had me start pushing at about 10am and I continued to push until 1:35 in the afternoon when Kade finally decided to come and join our family. He was stuck for quite a while and I almost had to have a C section but it all worked out:)
Honestly everyone says how amazing it is but until you actually experience it you can't understand! giving birth was the hardest thing in the world, but when Kade finally came out it was amazing... you just felt his little sweet spirit come into the room and into the world. it was so emotional and so amazing. I just looked and Colby and we both lost it... All the pain and everything melted away! I would do it over in a second! I am so lucky to have my sweet little boy here. Happy and healthy, and I am so lucky to have Colby by my side! We made a great team and I couldn't have gotten through it without him. He is the best, and having Kade has only made me love him more and more! I am one lucky girl!

1 great Year Down :)

On May 15th Colby and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary!! Wahooo... I can't believe that we have been married a whole year, time flies when you are having fun. Colby got me some beautiful flowers that smell and look amazing but he didn't stop there, he got me a gorgeous set of blue topaz earrings and a necklace to match! He really out did himself. I got him a nice watch that I had engraved and a shirt that he had wanted to buy last time we went shopping:) I sure hope he liked his gifts as much as I enjoyed mine. i also got the sweetest card... Colby is always so good at getting me cute cards and I love reading the things he writes.. :) I just love him to death!! After we opened our gifts we celebrated by going to the Anniversary Inn! ha ha it was so funny, that place is so weird:) We got the Romantic mountain Hideaway room and It felt more like The Chainsaw massacre!! It felt like a scary movie set and it smelt like moth balls :) We walked in and just started laughing our butts off! It sure made for a memorable experience and the service was really good. They brought breakfast to our room in the morning and we had cheesecake and sparkling cider in our room the night before:) We had forgot our wedding cake to eat that night so we ate it at our house the night after and I have to say... it wasn't that bad. The middle of the cake was pretty good. Colby didn't care for it to much but after all its a tradition to eat it so I made him at least try it!
All and all it was a great weekend celebration and I am so excited to have many many more anniversaries together. Love you so much Colby, my life would be empty without you:)
